Growing up, I was one of five children and the second oldest. By the time I was 8 years old, I had 4 siblings. My younger years were spent attending school and spending quality time as a family. My father started in the Mail Room of a major corporation and through numerous advancements accepted the position of Executive Vice President of National Sales. His dedication and success in the business world were great examples for me. Meanwhile, my mother took care of the five of us, which was no small task.
When I entered the business world, I started out as a part-time clerk in a small store while attending high school. Once I graduated, I wanted to explore what possibilities lay ahead. I first chose to work in a Bank where I learned how a bank operates. This position got me interested in the legal profession. Eventually, I became a paralegal, which kept me busy for most of my career. In the early 1980’s, Marv and I started a business based upon how corporations could rely on computers for their day-to-day functions by creating extensive backup plans.
In 1976 our first child was born, and my role as a mother became my priority. Our second child was born in 1979 and the third in 1981. We raised three children who were born within a span of five years.
In the late 1990’s, a friend recommended an educational program through Landmark Education. For a period of six years, I attended classes, weekend events and seminars studying who I was as a human being and what possibilities lay ahead for me. I took courses in communication, relationships and how I could make a difference in my own world. I believe in the importance of education at any age.
I discovered that my passion is family. I created a family environment wherever I was working. My colleagues were my partners in making the business we were in successful. I learned a lot about being truthful to myself and shared in the struggles I saw in other people.
I am the mother of three successful, confident and emotionally stable adults and Nana to five amazing kids. Our family is spread across the country, and we’ve been able to have family reunions on a regular basis.
Writing this book came from my desire to share morals and principles for the sake of future generations and because education and the care and consideration of others is important to me. What better way is there than to spend quality time with a child in your lap or next to you as they listen to every word from the book you hold?
